About Us

Mission Statement

The Saskatchewan Foster Families Association. Inc. exists to improve the quality of care for all children and youth in care requiring provincial services in Saskatchewan by encouraging, promoting, and assisting the development of healthy foster families.

Vision Statement

Empowering resilient families for the betterment of society.

Our Purpose

1. To educate and support foster families in their work as care-givers. (For example: by providing training, support, clarification of policy, if you are seeking additional resources for the home etc.)
2. To develop a better understanding in the community of the role of foster homes and the needs of children and youth in care. (For example: The SFFA has placed posters in many health care offices across Saskatchewan, Ritchie Hall has partnered with SFFA to promote fostering with radio advertisements, booths have been set up at various events as well as TV interviews promoting fostering.)
3. To ensure that proper process is followed should foster families encounter quality of care issues or come under MSS investigation. (For example: Should the foster parent choose to have the support of the Family Support Coordinator (FSC), the FSC will guide the foster parent through the process of the investigation, ensure that process and policy of investigation happens accurately as well as give updates and general support).
