			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span style="color: #000000;">This fall the FASD Network will have lots of interesting things going on around the office and around the province. Here are a few things that they wanted  to share with you: </span></p>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">As you may already know, <strong>September 9 is International FASD Awareness Day</strong>. There are events happening on September 9<sup>th</sup> and  throughout the whole month of September. We have sent materials out to many communities this year. Thank you all for your work and good luck with your events. If your event is happening later in the month, feel free to contact us for materials.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Once again, the Annual FASD Awareness Walk in Saskatoon will be hosted by MACSI. They look forward to gaining support from the community and always offer up a fabulous lunch. A poster with details is attached.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #000000;">Parents, just for you is our <strong>5th Annual Parent Retreat.</strong> The retreat will be held in <strong>Regina November 4<sup>th</sup> to 5<sup>th</sup>, 2011. </strong>This year’s theme, Bloom Where You Are Planted, promises chances for growth and acceptance. Connecting with others at the retreat and learning from keynote presenter Diane Malbin will help parents to bloom and learn in a friendly, safe and nurturing place. Please <strong>see the registration form link</strong>, located after the information for full event details. This event is offered at no cost to participants and is coming up very quickly. It is a good idea to<strong> register soon!</strong> If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Network office. If you know of a parent who might not receive this notice please share the information.</span></li>

<p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">FASD Family Support Program News!!</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">Parent Support Meetings and Know and Grow Sessions</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The Network is pleased to begin to offer direct services to families living with FASD through the new Family Support Program. The program aims to work with families and circles of support in Saskatoon and Area to gain positive outcomes for those living with FASD. A program brochure link is listed below the information. The FASD Family Support Program will begin to offer <strong>monthly Parent Support meetings in Saskatoon and “Know and Grow” sessions throughout the province.</strong> These sessions are for parents living with FASD. This includes birth parents, foster parents, caregivers, adoptive parents and grandparents.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">The monthly <strong>Parent Support Meetings</strong> will be held at the SHAW CENTER 122 Bowlt Crescent in Saskatoon. All meetings will run from 7:00 pm- 8:30pm. Snacks and beverages will be provided! Mark your calendars with the dates of the first three meetings. Please give the FASD Network a call before attending. Call 975-0881 or 975-0885.</span></p>

<p><span style="color: #000000;">For parents and caregivers living throughout the province, the FASD Network will hold <strong>“Know and Grow”</strong> sessions. These sessions are a great opportunity for gaining knowledge and networking. The following communities will host a  “Know and Grow” session in the coming months: Prince Albert, Nipawin, La Ronge, Meadow Lake, Moose Jaw, Swift Current, Regina, Yorkton, North Battleford and Weyburn.</span></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;">Watch for details, dates and locations. Please give the FASD Network a call for more information 975-0881 or 975-0885. They do have two <strong>“Know and Grow”</strong> sessions already planned:</span></p>

<p><strong><span style="color: #000000;">Dr. Larry Brendtro is founder of the Circle of Courage Institute, Dean of the Starr Commonwealth Institute for Training, and former president of Starr Commonwealth serving troubled youth in Michigan and Ohio.  </span></strong></p>
<p><span style="color: #000000;"><strong> </strong><strong>Dr. Brendtro is editor of the journal  <em>Reclaiming Children and Youth</em> and with colleagues has authored twelve books and 200 articles on challenging youth.  </strong></span></p>
